Riley-driving Brits take an unexpected victory in this exciting new French event
A Cadillac’s last-minute retirement from this new event – which follows the tyre tracks of Woolf Barnato’s Bentley across France – meant that two Brits in a Riley snatched overall victory.
Richard and Tom Jeffcoate took the lead in their 1938 Riley 16/4 Special after the American entrant, driven by James Gately and Tony Brooks, destroyed one of its wheel bearings in the final regularity stage.
