Defence Secretary Inducts HAL Manufactured ALH Mk-III Helicopters into Indian Coast Guard
In a major boost to the ALH Mk-III indigenous Coast Guard programme, three Advanced Light Helicopters (ALHs) manufactured by HAL were inducted into the stables of the Indian Coast Guard by Dr. Ajay Kumar, Defence Secretary. These helicopters which are part of the ALH Mk III programme will be positioned in Bhubaneswar, Porbandar, Chennai and Kochi and will be part of different Coast Guard Aviation Squadrons.

MoD signs contract with MDSL to supply Light Specialist Vehicles to Indian Army
Providing further boost to ‘Make in India’, Ministry of Defence (MoD) signed a contract with Mahindra Defence Systems Ltd (MDSL) for supply of 1,300 Light Specialist Vehicles to the Indian Army, at a cost of Rs 1,056 crore, in New Delhi on March 22, 2021. The induction of vehicles is planned to be completed in four years.

The agreement on the modernization and licensed production of IL-103 in Hungary was concluded on March 17 between Ilyushin Aviation Complex (part of Russia’s United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) under Rostec State Corporation) and the Hungarian company Aviation Engineering Zrt The signing ceremony took place in the presence of Russian Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Oleg Bocharov and Counselor, Deputy Ambassador of Hungary to the Russian Federation Laszlo Vida. The document was signed on the Russian side by the First Deputy General Director of UAC, Managing Director of ILYUSHIN Sergey Yarkovoy, and on the Hungarian side by the General Director of Aviation Engineering Zrt. Laszlo Boros.

DRDO conducts successful flight test of Solid Fuel Ducted Ramjet
Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully carried out a flight demonstration based on Solid Fuel Ducted Ramjet (SFDR) technology from Integrated Test Range Chandipur off the coast of Odisha on March 05, 2021. All the subsystems, including the booster motor and nozzle-less motor, performed as expected. During the test, many new technologies were proven, including Solid Fuel based Ducted Ramjet technology.
Boeing Inducts First EA18G Growler for U.S. Navy Modification Program
Boeing has started a five-year modification program for the U.S. Navy’s EA-18G Growler fleet with the induction of the first jet at Naval Air Station Whidbey Island. The modifications are focused on updating the jets’ structural and mission systems architecture, enabling future capability growth for the Navy’s 160 Growler aircraft. Growlers serve a critical role in jamming radar and communications signals of threat forces, disabling their ability to detect and track U.S. and allied military forces.
