CHECK-IN Promptly at 3am, I was at the business class counter of Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport. Within minutes I was issued a boarding pass. My flight to Dubai was scheduled to take offat 5:10am from Gate 2 of Terminal 2. There was a short queue at the checkin counter, but I didn’t have to wait long.

As I was flying business class, I cleared immigration formalities in no time at the separate counter for business and first class passengers. Since there was no one in queue before me, I had ample time on hand to browse through the bookstore and duty-free, as well as relax at GVK Lounge.

BOARDING Boarding started at 4:30am at Gate 2. Initially the line to board the aircraft seemed to be a single one. Not much later, an airport official asked business class passengers to move to the front and board the aircraft first.
