Going Strong And Franchising Successfully For Two Decades Now

Company Profile: Celebrity chef Sanjeev Kapoor promoted SK Restaurants runs 80 operational restaurants across the globe currently, out of which 76 are franchised and 4 are company owned. Kapoor’s entrepreneurial journey began in 1998 when he launched Khazana in Dubai as a franchisee model. Kapoor is, possibly, one of the first few celebrity chefs to have started his restaurant business with a franchisee rather than owning one. The company took the same concept forward when it launched The Yellow Chilli in Ludhiana in 2001. Kapoor stuck with the same franchisee model for a few years, before opening the first self-owned restaurant in 2012. After two decades, both Khazana and Yellow Chilli still operate from their original locations and have been doing great business. A big chunk of this credit goes to the successful execution and implementation of the franchise model. Today, 96 % of Kapoor’s operational restaurants are in the franchisee model.
