Current inspirations…

 “I’m forever inspired by my travels – wherever I go, I try to take back a part of what I encountered. Most recently I’ve been very inspired by my trip to Jammu and Kashmir. My greatest inspiration is nature.”

Walk us through your design process…

“My design process begins with something that I see that captures my imagination. From there on, I sketch and choose the gemstones. I then collaborate with my craftsmen to turn my vision into a reality – I turn an inanimate thought into an animate three-dimensional object. Once that is done, it is cast and then the filing and the polishing takes place. Finally, the setting takes place. The end product can take from three to six months to be made.”

Tell us about the jewellery you wore for your own ‘Big Day…’

“A pair of earrings that my mum gave me, which was passed down to her from her mother-in-law (my dadi). So I decided to design a choker to match that and a maang tikka. Along with which, I also took the embroidery of my outfit and matched it to the motifs in my jewellery. It was in diamonds and pearls and it was very regal.”
