I write from paradise. I’m giving in to the lusciously tempting Big Apple. Over the years, I’ve been sinning my way through manic Manhattan’s vast tentacled food jungle’s evolving everythingness. On this trip too, I’m salivating and eating my way through the low and high, faddish and fun, diabolically tasty, heartbreakingly expensive to the cheapest. But this time, there’s a difference… I’m feasting with the legends. And whoa! What high-octane legends… food, music, movies, theatre and social media too.

Khulja sim sim! The magic begins… I’m at the premiere of Victoria & Abdul and not only is it a joy to watch Vikas (Khanna) and Dame Judi (Dench) hugging, but also tasting the magical mango and edible gold dessert that Vikas is creating right here. He may have been hailed as the ‘world’s sexiest chef,’ but this awardwinning Michelin starred chef, cookbook writer, humanitarian and judge of MasterChef India, is also the most affectionate. He takes me to yet another treat; NYC’s Kalustyan’s, an 80-year-old iconic treasure trove of rare spices, herbs, grains, lentils and more. He gives me a taste of the finest black garlic, the world’s best Iranian saffron and of butterfly pea too.
