Nearly two decades after getting clean, Bradley Cooper opens up about his battle with cocaine and alcohol- and the night that changed everything

Bradley's Addiction Confession: 'I Wad So Lost'

Bradley Cooper appears to live a charmed life. He's been nominated for nine Academy Awards, won two Grammys, and is a regular on the highest-paid actors list, with an estimated $100 million fortune. Among the splashy fruits of his labor? A $13.5 million townhouse in NYC, plus a reported three homes in California valued at more than $10 million.

Hollywood hasn't been all glitz and glamour for the actor-writer-director producer, though. In the past, Bradley has admitted to struggling with substance abuse but until now, the Nightmare Alley star's kept a dark secret: He was hooked on cocaine. The 47-year-old elaborated on his problem with drugs and alcohol in the early 2000s during a recent episode of Smartless, - a podcast hosted by his good friend Will Arnett as well as Jason Bateman and Sean Hayes. I was so lost, and I was addicted to cocaine, Bradley said, noting that he'd already made it in showbiz in his mind and had landed a role opposite Jennifer Garner in Alias, but felt he was back in high school: I could not get into any clubs; no girls wanted to look at me. I was totally depressed.

So he tried to escape. Bradley's addictions became so severe that if he'd continued down that path, he could've died, claims a source. He would stay up for days, was constantly sneaking off to the bathroom, and seemed to always be sweating profusely. It was really bad.
