‘The expectations were eating me alive,’ Ryan Reynolds admitted after filming his first major Marvel movie in 2015 – revealing it was wife Blake Lively who allowed him to overcome his anxiety. ‘Blake helped me through that,’ the star continued. ‘I’m lucky to have her around just to keep me sane.’

But cut to the sequel, and the 40-year old will be going it alone. With production already underway in Ryan’s hometown of Vancouver, Canada, the couple are set to spend a significant amount of time apart in the coming months, as Blake stays behind in New York to look after their daughters James, two, and Ines, 10 months.

It’s going to be a long slog in different countries – filming for Dead pool 2 is set to continue until October – with only the occasional catch-up in between takes. ‘Ryan is renting a house so Blake and the girls can come by and visit,’ a well-placed source reveals. ‘But they’ll only be there on the odd weekend when he’s not working.’
