Charlize Theron 'I Don't Want To Date An Actor'

 Make no mistake; Charlize Theron is a force to be reckoned with. After all, she’s spent years balancing roles as an Oscar-winning actress and a champion of human rights – all while raising two kids as a single mum. But despite her steely persona, Charlize admits she was visibly emotional when her film Atomic Blonde opened to raucous applause at the SXSW Film Festival in March.

‘I’m in an action movie that people really responded to,’ she recently told Variety magazine. ‘That’s a lot, especially for someone who was told throughout her career she wouldn’t work after 40.’

Director Patty Jenkins believes Charlize is part of a growing group of women who are leading the charge with strong female roles. ‘For our films to be successful and make a lot of money as well as having a female lead sends a huge message to the world that this is something possible,’ says Patty, who directed Charlize in Monster. ‘People are watching and paying attention.’

Charlize has never been afraid to take on a challenge. She’s trained for hardcore action roles like Furiosa in Mad Max: Fury Road, and underwent two radical body overhauls – first for her Oscar-winning role in Monster and more recently for her upcoming comedy Tully.

She’s also always been willing to plumb the depths of human emotion for her work. Even so, it’s hard to imagine her being anything but perfectly poised in her private life. When she split from the ‘love’ of her life Sean Penn last year she denies there was any drama, explaining, ‘We were in a relationship and then it didn’t work anymore.’
