The Queen delighted the nation as she made her first appearance in almost a month last week. The 95-year-old looked in good spirits as she stood unaided and held a face to face audience at Windsor Castle, speaking with General Sir Nick Carter, Chief of Sir Nick Carter, Chief of the Defence Staff, who is preparing to step down from his role.
She opted for a green, orange and white floral dress as she carried out the engagement in the Oak Room at Windsor Castle, with her precious corgis in tow.
The Queen was heard telling Sir Nick it is “rather sad” that he is leaving the position, with him replying, “I think the time comes when it is ready to move on.”
It was, no doubt, a relief for the rest of the royal family to see her back to work once again after missing a string of planned engagements, including the COP26 climate change conference earlier this month.
