It's no secret that, as a youngster, Prince William kept his father's second wife at arm's length. But over the years his relationship with the now Duchess of Cornwall, who married Prince Charles in 2005, has thawed - and insiders say it's all down to the friendship shared between his wife, the Duchess of Cambridge, and his stepmother.

Just how close they've become was on show at the recent Platinum Jubilee when Kate, 40, and Camilla, 74, shared a carriage during the Trooping the Colour parade. “It was Kate’s idea to have Camilla join her and the kids in their carriage at the jubilee,” says a source. “She wanted the world to see that the Cambridges were united with Camilla now that she’s soon to become queen.”

As an eyewitness tells WHO, “Kate and Camilla looked easy in each other’s company. Camilla was helping Kate keep her kids entertained and comfortable.”
