From wellies to waxed jackets, extravagant hats to skyscraper heels – this year’s Royal Norfolk Show covered every end of the fashion spectrum
IT WAS a Royal Norfolk Show of two very different halves – of sunshine and downpours, sunglasses and umbrellas.
But this year’s show goers still managed to dress to impress despite the extreme weather conditions and it was the usual fashion extravaganza.
On Wednesday, visitors mixed pretty summer dresses with rain coats and wellies, while on Thursday the sun came out and so did the hats and fascinators – and even the occasional high heel.
Of course the Norfolk Show is one of the biggest events on the county’s social calendar and the rain was not going to stop anyone from having fun and getting their glad rags on – and thankfully, the trend for stylish but practical country-wear came into its own, Dubarrys for the ladies, waxed jackets for the men.
A TEAM of ‘style spotters’ from intu Chapelfield was out in force across both days of the Royal Norfolk Show, looking for the most stylish visitors and the best, stand out from the crowd, hats and fascinators.
From designer labels to homemade gowns, tweeds to vintage accessories, there is always a fantastic array of outfits and great looks to admire. The ‘best dressed’ and ‘headline hat’ competition is sponsored by intu Chapelfield with some great prizes on offer to the winners.
As usual, the number of visitors dressed to impress was incredible. The four winners of the ‘best dressed’ category across the two days each scooped a £250 intu Chapelfield gift card along with a one-to-one styling session with House of Fraser’s personal shopper.
Braving the non-stop rain and mud on Wednesday, the style spotters included Emma Lee, editor of our sister magazines Norwich Resident and Royal Coast Resident, and 2016 Great British Bake Off contestant Kate Barmby.
