How do you top the wintry wonderland that was Frozen? In 2013, Disney’s musical spectacular became one of the highest-grossing animated films of all time as youngsters – and the young at heart – fell in love with the sisterly bond between tortured snow queen Elsa (voiced by Idina Menzel) and her younger sibling Anna (Kristen Bell).

When a sequel was announced, the pressure was on to capture audiences’ imaginations all over again. But thankfully, Frozen II, which sees the sisters embark on a spellbinding journey to learn more about Elsa’s icy powers, proved an even bigger global hit.

Now, before Frozen II premieres on Disney+ on Friday 3 July, the subscription service is airing a fascinating behind-the-scenes documentary, Into the Unknown: Making Frozen II. The six-parter profiles the meticulous work undertaken by the cast and production team over a year in the lead-up to the film’s cinematic release last autumn.
