While WWE are having their women’s wrestling resurgence across the pond the UK scene is also seeing a batch of very talented female performers coming through with names such as Nixon Newell, Kay Lee Ray and Viper impressing across the length and breadth of the British isles. One performer whose name should also be mentioned in the same breath as those competitors is Lana Austin.
Since making her debut, a relatively short time ago in 2013, Austin has quickly risen through the ranks, portraying bubbly baby face or dastardly heel across the UK, both to a high standard. Wrestling has always been something that Austin’s been passionate about, as a young teen Austin would emulate her hero, WWE Hall of Famer Lita and it seems obvious that Austin was destined for a future within the squared circle, even if she was not aware of it. In fact, her love of wrestling has remained one of the constants over the years despite the constant changes in fashion sense, hair styles and deciding whether her eyebrows should be real or drawn on.
“Growing up with three brothers and a dad who were all big wrestling fans,” Austin tells Total Wrestling’s Neil Rogers. “Wrestling was just a part of our lives from watching it non stop, having wrestling merchandise, to my mum staying up late to press record on the VHS so we didn’t miss the big events.
