Mrugaya Chitnis reports on the TEXPROCIL Annual Export Award Function held on Oct 21, 2016, at The Regal Room, Trident Hotel, Mumbai, in which the Union Textile Minister Smt Smriti Irani spread cheer with her announcement of the ₹ 6,000 crore special package for Made-ups and the Home Textile Sector.

And the Award Goes to…

TEXPROCIL, The Cotton Textiles Export Promotion Council, celebrated the achievements of its member exporters at the TEXPROCIL Awards for Outstanding Export Performance 2015-16 function. The award function was held on October 21, 2016, at The Regal Room, Trident Hotel, Mumbai.

The event was graced by the presence of Smt Smriti Irani, Hon’ble Minister of Textiles, GoI—the Chief Guest on this momentous evening. She was accompanied by Dr Kavita Gupta, Textile Commissioner, Ministry of Textiles, GoI, and Shri A Madhukumar Reddy, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Textiles.

The event was inaugurated by Smt Smriti Irani lighting the ceremonial lamp with the other digitaries.This preceded a cultural programme presented by the physically challenged students of ‘Ability Unlimited’—an organisation set up by dance guru Dr Syed Pasha.

THE CHAIRMAN SPEAKS

The awards function commenced with the opening speech delivered by Mr R K Dalmia, Chairman, TEXPROCIL. In his speech, Mr Dalmia congratulated all the award winners for facing the challenges of slow global demand and intense price pressures to emerge leaders in their respective lines of businesses during the year 2015-16.
