Alessandro Michele took the Gucci Gang out for a nightcap at Théâtre Le Palace in Paris and danced to the rhythm of Spring/Summer ‘19.
During the presentation of the Gucci Spring/Summer ‘19 collection, practically everyone was drawn to the “Mickey Mouse head” bag. Yet again, Alessandro Michele, created a kitschy accessory for the Italian luxury house that would have fans of the brand f locking to its boutiques and snapping it up.
Michele’s ascension from an accessories designer to the creative director within the maison equipped him with an intimate knowledge of the brand, which he employed in his praise-worthy efforts in reinvigorating Gucci. However, beneath the shiny veneer of cove table accessories, his propensity to convincingly narrate a story every season should also be extolled.
For a luxury fashion house that had its humble beginnings crafting travel luggage in 1921, the typical voyage across the “Seven Seas” has become a tired tale. Michele understood the restlessness of the digital-era generation, so he created his own brand of fantastical travels for Gucci. The FW ‘17 Star Trek-inspired and Cruise ‘19 Noah’s Ark campaigns were two of the most memorable travel stories that got this millennial writer to sit up and devour every piece of the collections.
