Fun, Fierce & Forever Fabulous
TRUE LOVE Magazine East Africa|December 2018

Award winning actor, emcee and fabulous TV host Serah Teshna lifts the lid on all the rumours and misconceptions surrounding her life. She also reveals to CATE ODERA why she is looking forward to Christmas this year, more than ever.

Fun, Fierce & Forever Fabulous
Serah always knew that she was born be an actor. So even when her parents made it clear that it wasn’t the right career choice, she resorted to work tirelessly to prove them wrong and live her dream. Several accolades later, and a top TV job under her belt, 30-year old Serah is today a household name in film and comedy TV series alike.

Not one to settle, Serah says she has to keep reinventing herself, which is why she took a break from acting this year. She promises big news and says there’s something definitely in the woodworks this December, apart from Santa that is.

‘I don’t believe in Santa. He’s never brought me anything, so no, I don’t believe in him,’ Serah says with a hearty laugh when I mentioned the old man in a red costume and white beard.

Our conversation kicks off with Serah wanting to set the record straight, ‘I have never had a nose job, nor have I bleached my skin. In fact, my grandma calls me red because when I was born I was very light skinned, almost pink. However, I’m happy my makeup artists have been so meticulous with my face,’ she says proudly.

She also prefers to be called Serah Teshna. ‘My first name is spelt with the vowel ‘e’, because my mum derived it from the musical instrument Seraphim,’ she continues.

Serah is generally jovial, talkative and expressive. She uses her hands animatedly and her eyes curve on the corners when she smiles. She is also adaptable, a fact she says is due to her upbringing.

‘Growing up, we moved around a lot because of my dad’s work. We lived in Bungoma in Western Kenya, Mwingi in Eastern, Nyahururu in Central and in Nairobi. We were real nomads and sometimes it was fun because we mingled with people from different cultures.’
