The Body Doubles

STACEY ONDIMU-KIMANI & DAISY KISIMBO, 29

What is it like to constantly be around another human being who's just like you?

Stacey: It’s amazing because she gets me and accepts me no matter what. It’s a lot easier for us to be there for each other, to understand what the other is going through and know how to offer the kind of support needed to help get through the tough times or to celebrate the good times.

Daisy: I have never been a singlet and so I don’t know what that feels like. It is surprising though when we look in the mirror and see how identical we are. That’s when it hits you, that you are seeing your double.

Who is older? Stacey: I am younger by 5 minutes.

Daisy: I don’t feel older. But I was protective of her when we were younger. Over the years we have switched roles and personalities so much that I don’t think it’s about being older or younger anymore.

Are you in the same field? Stacey: Nope I am more into technology and I work at Moringa School as Director of Operations.

Daisy: I am the head of the urban department at IDCG Engineering.

What is one thing you wish people would know or stop assuming about twins?

Daisy: That we are telepathic. Yes, seriously, you would be surprised how many people have asked us that.

Stacey: A lot of people tend to treat us as one person in two bodies but we are two individuals with different passions and dreams.

When making decisions do you always think of how it would affect your twin?
