I recall that it was rather an unremarkable signal, the type you would dig, but not get overly excited about.
A bit of lead perhaps or maybe even another deep Victoria penny. I had been out for a few hours in glorious sunshine with my trusty old Teknetics T2, ambling over some rough pasture interspersed with beech trees and clumps of long tough grass. Formidable ground indeed but I had still been picking up the occasional old copper penny and halfpenny.
