Interior Designer Adetee Sawhaney Opts for a Refined Material Palette and Vibrant Colour Scheme for a Farm House in New Delhi.
This sprawling residence in Chhatarpur Farms, New Delhi, can easily be termed as ‘a mini-palace’. It was the brief that was given to Adetee Sawhaney, Principal Designer, Altus Interio.
Spread over an area of 15,000 sq. ft., the home is split in two levels. The designer has opted for rich materials and vibrant colours, semi-precious stones, intricate carving on the furniture and extensive use of mirror work.
As we enter the residence, we are greeted by greens on all sides. A beautiful driveway leads to the entrance of the house. The entrance door further leads to the foyer area, which has a formal living area on one side and the dining area on the other side. As we move further inside from the foyer, we see the informal lounge and the small home office. The dining area and the informal lounge are both lined with full size glass windows, which overlook the swimming pool. A guest room and kitchen are the other areas on the ground floor.
As we move up to the first floor, there is a master bedroom, a kid’s room and two other rooms, each with its unique look. All rooms have their individual balconies overlooking the greenery.
Explaining the design concept, Adetee Sawhaney says, “It has so far been one of our most creative challenges. A space that was completed once and has to be redone in a totally new avatar is always more difficult than a fresh canvas. Since the idea was to have a unique, creative space, we had to do extensive R&D in terms of befitting materials, structural compatibility of numerous materials being amalgamated and incorporating the client inputs.”
