Considering that Seoul is approximately 3,535 kilometeres from Guwahati, it was a rather special event for K-pop fans when popular band KARD performed live at Shilpagram
With BTS becoming a worldwide phenomenon, it is hard to imagine that music listeners in India have not heard of K-pop. While bigger names like BTS, EXO and Blackpink have more of a fan-base in the country, there are many hardcore fans who listen to a wide range of bands from South Korea, because the list is ever growing with artists having so much to offer. One band that is growing in popularity is KARD. Formed and managed by DSP Media, the band is one of the few co-ed groups in Korea.
And so, it is not surprising that fans in India were super excited when it was announced that the group will be performing in Delhi and Guwahati. Organised by Pink Box Events with support from Korean Cultural Centre India (Embassy of the Republic of South Korea), the Guwahati concert was held at Shilpagram on 14th July.
Up Close and Personal
Like many other fans of K-pop, I knew that I had to get tickets to the show. Now, for people who are not familiar with K-pop concerts, they are a little different from other concerts in the sense that the concert is preceded by fan meets that include album signing, high fiving the artists and the chance to take a photo with the band/artist. But, each special event is priced differently so you need to pay extra for all the perks. Honestly, it is a great opportunity for fans to meet the artists up close, but it also meant queues, and I didn’t want to spend hours of my precious weekend in a queue, so I simply got tickets to watch the final concert/performance.

MUSINGS OF A SOLDIER: TIT-BITS
People often ask me about my life out of uniform. Honestly, I have had no problems. Not so far. Instead, I find it quite refreshing. No routine, no parades, no briefing, no impending operations. Having donned the uniform since the age of thirteen until I hung up my boots last year, could I ever visualize life out of uniform? Not really. But, as I said, the transition has been quite smooth–no hang-overs, no regrets. People have been very positive in their interactions. Government departments have been responsive whenever I have approached for assistance. The genuine respect for the uniform is quite evident and it makes my heart swell with pride. Arunachal, to that extent, is the most nationalistic state in the country, I daresay. It has been kind of a revelation for me to experience the freedom of being a common man in an environment of positivity!
