Nosipho Gamede has moved from corporate mom to independent operator of her own entertainment mobile app
As the daughter of a primary school teacher and education inspector, Nosipho grew up knowing the value of education and helping others. It led her to study psychology, majoring in criminology, then she studied forensics and took a job in fraud management with a major telecommunications company in Gauteng.
But 10 years and three children later, her life had become so full of work and child-related chores that when girlfriends from Durban, where she grew up, came to visit and asked her where the best places were to party or chill with their favourite music or show, ‘I hadn’t a clue! It was a gap in my life. And I realised it was probably a gap in the lives of other busy people too,’ Nosipho says. That’s when she hit on the idea of creating an entertainment app.
In June 2016 she launched GigNet Digital, SA’s first fully integrated entertainment app, which allows entertainment consumers and potential party goers like herself and her friends, and promoters, entertainers, venue owners and the media to interact in what she describes as ‘a single entertainment ecosystem’.
