Rahil Ansari, Head of Audi, India talks about his responsibilities at Audi, the future of the luxury automobile business, and the challenges of operating in India.
A strong believer in destiny, Rahil Ansari has grown up watching Bollywood flicks and is an ardent lover of spicy Indian cuisine. Not one to give up easily, he is of the opinion that with perseverance, hard work and determination, any setback can be overcome. While spending time with his family is his ultimate luxury, a long drive and a game of badminton or squash are his passions. We find out more about this dynamic, young go-getter in our exclusive Millionaire-asia interview.
As the youngest brand director of Audi anywhere in the world please tell us a little about your journey with Audi India.
I have to admit that I am really emotionally attached to the brand as I have literally watched it grow from the status of a baby to that of an adult. I joined Audi AG in April 2004 as a Pricing Consultant in Sales Controlling. Subsequently, I was given the responsibility of leading Sales and Marketing for India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka as Country Sales Manager for these regions between 2006 and 2008. In 2011, I re-joined Audi with responsibility for network expansion, training and business management as Head of Dealer Development. Starting with, we had three dealers, during my stint as the head of dealer development, we increased the number to 26 and had further nine in the pipeline. Today, we have 40 dealers and 90 customer touch points that include showrooms, workshops and used car facilities. I am quite excited to be the Head of Audi India and look forward to a wonderful journey with my team here.
