Kempegowda Steps To Become Smart
Cruising Heights
|November 2017
Committed to a futuristic and innovative vision of The Smart Airport - the Bangalore International Airport will soon become the ‘first in India’ to implement Aadhaar and biometric-enabled entry.
Hari Marar, President and Executive Director of Bangalore International Airport, does not want fliers to waste time waiting in long queues at security. Nor does he want passengers to be disgruntled and angry when they are ready to board their flights. Simply put, he would love passengers to have a great experience at the Kempegowda International Airport (KIA). He is forthright when he says: “The best way to work around this issue would be to reinvent, re-imagine and rethink passenger experience at the airport.”
It is no wonder then that KIA, which caters to the country’s most tech-savvy city Bengaluru, will soon become the ‘first airport in India’ to implement Aadhaar and biometric-enabled entry. The airport has floated a proposal for inviting applications from companies to provide such biometric enabled entries. “The provision for Aadhaar card-based boarding is simply one additional facility for passengers at the BLR Airport to enable them a seamless experience as well speed up the process as they pass through the Airport,” Bangalore International Airport Ltd (BIAL) said.
