Kate Middleton has made it her mission to break down the stigma surrounding children’s mental health issues, and it turns out there’s a reason she holds the cause so close to her heart: Pals of the Duchess of Cambridge reveal that the royal mom needed therapy after being bullied in her early teens. “Kate doesn’t want any other child to go through what she did,” says a friend.

TROUBLES AS A TEEN

Despite catching a prince’s attention, Kate, 35, wasn’t always the polished, confident woman we see today. As a 13-year-old, the future royal felt bullied by her classmates at the Downe House, a private girls’ school in Berkshire. “Kate was seen as weak because she was a bit shy and timid,” shares one confidante of the duchess. “They made her life hell.”
