AMBITIOUS Dan Micciche says there are ‘no limits’ to what MK Dons can achieve – and believes reaching the Premier League should be one of their main long-term targets.
MK wasted little time in appointing the little known Micciche as their new manager after ditching Robbie Neilson in the aftermath of last week’s 2-1 defeat by Northampton Town.
That defeat left them in the League One drop zone, though the table was so tight the Bucks side were only six points off mid-table pre-weekend.
Some may have thought the Dons would go for an experienced boss to get them out of trouble, but chairman Pete Winkelman is confident they have done the right thing by appointing ‘one of the most exciting young coaches in the country’.
But there is more to the decision than that, as Micciche has extensive knowledge of the club from his previous spell as head of academy coaching.
He played a part in the development of players such as Dele Alli (Tottenham), Sheyi Ojo (Liverpool, on loan at Fulham) and Brendan Galloway (Everton, on loan at Sunderland).
After working for the FA as coach and development technical lead and England U16s manager, Micciche has returned to the Dons – and he’s keen to prove the doubters wrong.
