DONTNOD OUT-DOES ITSELF WITH ANOTHER EMOTIONALLY GRIPPING TALE
ADAM BRYANT
Life Is Strange 2

With the first Life Is Strange Dontnod showed the world its own unique way of telling a fantastic story. For the sequel the studio examined that formula, learned what worked well and what didn’t, and improved it to make one of the most emotionally engaging stories we’ve experienced in a long while.

Life Is Strange follows the tale of two brothers, 16-year-old Sean Diaz and his nine-year-old brother, Daniel. Sean is your typical teenager, concerned with little more than asking out a girl and not getting busted by his father for having a cigarette. Daniel, on the other hand, is playful and mischievous and doesn’t seem to have a care in the world.

Tragedy soon strikes, however. Following a confrontation that escalates outside their suburban home and a gunshot rings out. Immediately after, an explosion erupts, killing a police officer. Waking up confused and surrounded by bodies, Sean sees no other choice but to grab Daniel and make a run for it. The brothers then agree to escape to their father’s hometown of Puerto Lobos in Mexico, all the while being chased by the authorities. This is the driving force behind their long and arduous journey.
