One incredible, unforgettable season

One incredible, unforgettable season

It’s not as simple as hoping to carry momentum from one season to the next. The minute you get comfortable and start to rest on your laurels in the NFL is when you’re suddenly caught flat-footed and left in the dust, like a cornerback who bit a double move.

McDermott is always quick to point this out following the conclusion of a season. The 2020 chapter of the Bills has officially closed. Bills coaches and players can’t afford to dwell on their many successes from the past 12 months, because that’s just not how their jobs work.

It’s different for the rest of us, however. Fans, analysts and observers alike don’t have to move on immediately. We can take the time to examine and process all that has transpired, which is a good thing — because the 2020 season is one that Bills fans won’t forget anytime soon.

Yes, Buffalo ultimately fell short of its No. 1 goal. The Kansas City Chiefs were far and away the better team in the AFC Championship Game, and no changes in fourth-down decisions or game plans were going to change that result. The best team on that day won.

Buffalo’s season ended with a loss, but everything else about the 2020 Bills season was a win. This was the year that we finally — finally — saw the seismic shift we’ve been waiting to see since the famed Super Bowl teams of the 90s.

This wasn’t fool’s gold. This was the real deal.

Diggs was clearly amped up and ready to go as the Bills began their preparations for the new season, leading the huddle and supporting his teammates as they kicked off training camp in Orchard Park. QUARTERBACKS: TOP AVAILABLE FREE AGENTS

Dak Prescott, Cowboys 6-2 • 235 pounds • 27 years old A solid starter who has a nice TD-INT ratio over his first five seasons (104-40), Prescott is an accurate thrower and very mobile. However, he’s coming off a compound fracture and dislocation of his right ankle, so it remains to be seen if this will impact his game moving forward.

Hunter Henry, Chargers 6-5 • 250 pounds • 29 years old A very talented player, Henry has had issues staying healthy, unable to complete an NFL season, including missing the entire 2018 season with a torn ACL. But when healthy, he’s a terrific all-around tight end who really connected with Justin Herbert in 2020 with 60 catches. Henry is very good at finding holes in zone coverage.
