Social media appears to have made it easy to not only rake up old wounds but also, take fists over wrangling issues and differences of opinion. As Harbhajan Singh reacted somewhat surprisingly to a bizarre remark by former Australian wicketkeeper-batsman, Adam Gilchrist, it begs the question of how deep old wounds are and whether cricketers have now an easy access at potentially dangerous, instigating provocation in digging up the past?

It appears that the reminder of Adam Gilchrist being one of the three scalps in Harbhajan Singh’s Test cricket hat-trick did not go down well with the former Australian cricketer. Although sections of the western media have dubbed Harbhajan Singh’s reaction as falling to his impetuous bad boy antics by lashing out at Gilchrist for not accepting the verdict at the time, it would appear the Australians have been an equally sensitive lot – refusing to let go of certain ghosts from their own past and inevitably leading to some needless provocation rather unwittingly.
