Former Pakistan captain Mohammad Yousuf has hit out at the Pakistan Cricket Board’s decision to continue with Misbah-ul-Haq as head coach and selector despite the latter’s lack of experience as a coach. During the same tirade, he also termed Misbah as an average batsman with no skill. “He had no skills. He had a one-dimensional game. He played defensively most of the time and only took his chances when the spinners came on,” Yousuf claimed. This, even as Misbah represented Pakistan in 75 Tests and 162 ODIs. He is also the country’s most successful Test skipper with 26 wins in 56 matches. How much truth is there in Yousuf’s claim that Misbah was an average batsman? We try to analyze.
