Alternating Rhythms: Exploring the back-beat and running with the sound of your own drum.

The Shapeshifter Roger Hall

Last I checked, surfing wasn’t considered a team sport - even though it’s great to enjoy with your mates. As surfers we ride waves as individuals even though we may be inspired and influenced by others and run as a pack because there is so much fun to be had. Then there is the scenario of a wave approaching and you’re hoping all your mates are NOT paddling for it aye! Yes, that’s right, you would rather be surfing that wave alone. So you see, surfing really is an individual pursuit and we have the luxury of utilising our own input, our own style on our own terms and with what ever the hell feels good under our feet! Individuality ensures that one size will never fit all when it comes to surfboards. You may be on your own but the nature of waves and surfboards is such that you will never be lonely. You are free to explore, discover and enjoy by riding different shapes, and there has never been a time when such a wide array of surfboard shapes has been so accessible.

What’s good for your soles is good for your soul. Suck it up through your feet and let the good stoke flow.

No qualifications required. You don’t need to be a Hipster, dress a certain way or grow a beard. You just need to surf.
