Fun, nostalgia and promotion all rolled into one when cricket legends turned up at three baseball stadiums to show America what the game is all about. The numbers may not have been the most impressive, but the cheering more than made up for it.
It was nostalgic for some, for others it was an opportunity to join in the fun and catch a flash of what some of the best in the business did in their prime. For Virender Sehwag (right), though, it looked like another walk in the park opening the batting for Sachin’s Blasters against Warne’s Warriors in the first Twenty20 at the Citi Field, Flushing Meadows, Queens, in New York. During his 22-ball 55, he smashed legends like Wasim Akram, Allan Donald, Courtney Walsh and Jacques Kallis to all corners of the park. However, the 140 that the Blasters put on board looked challenging only when Shoaib Akhtar had the ball in hand. Once the pacer finished his quota, Ricky Ponting, Kumara Sangakkara and Jonty Rhodes helped the Warriors complete an easy win with six wickets and go one up in the three-match series.
