But that’s all over with now because Jason Garrett holds the key to Daniel Jones’ future.
When Joe Judge offered the offensive coordinator position to Garrett, the former Cowboys head man needed some time to think it over. He needed to speak to his family before letting Judge know if he wanted to move back east.
“It was a big move,” Garrett said. “My family loves Texas, but they know how much the Giants organization means to me, how much I loved it here when I played for the Maras. Yeah, we thought long and hard but in the end, it wasn’t that hard of a decision.”
The first move Garrett made after accepting the job was to reach out to the Giants’ future, Daniel Jones, and a connection began almost instantly.
“I’m excited to work with him,” Garrett said. “I liked Jones when we scouted him coming out of Duke and I liked him when seeing him on film playing for the Giants. What’s there not to like? He’s big, smart, fast, with a good arm. I can’t wait to get started.”
There is always a link between an offensive coordinator and his starting quarterback, and sure enough, the connection began with the initial phone call with the hope that it will grow into something special on the football field.
Jones received a solid foundation from Pat Shurmur, something that seems to be overlooked with the hatred spewed Shurmur’s way. But now Joe Judge is banking on Garrett to build the rest of the house.
