Natural beauty, quaint old towns and their main squares, lots of vodka, and pocket-friendly travel thanks to the zloty—Poland is your affordable European summer getaway. The country isn’t always on European travel bucket lists, but one visit might change your mind. For starters, visiting Poland is like a history lesson, to learn and not repeat past mistakes. Its dark tourism locations like Auschwitz among other Nazi concentration camps, is a reminder to aim for world peace and reconciliation. Secondly, the country is massive—nature on your mind, head to the Tatra Mountains; want to be adventurous, head to the salt mine in Wieliczka; like myths and legends, Kraków is a city associated with dragons! If these aren’t enough, our favourite social media location is the Old Town in Warsaw. Completely ruined during WWII, it’s been reconstructed from scratch and is one of the liveliest spots in the country today.

Move over, Barcelona. Lisbon is now the latest go-to place, consistently making it into the top five must-visit destinations in millennial surveys this year. The city of time-worn Moorish tiles, custard tarts, yellow trams and cobblestone streets, Lisbon has four aspects making travellers flock to the city: it is extremely, extremely social media friendly (you do want your followers to be wowed when you dig into a
