At 52, She’s in the best shape of her life to take on a new challenge
She’s an Oscar Award-winning actress, model and will soon be making her directorial debut. But Halle Berry’s two children aren’t too fussed about her fame.
Her daughter Nahla (11) picked up that she doesn’t have a run-of-the mill job from her school friends years ago, but her son Maceo (5) is only just starting to work it out.
“For the last year, my son’s been saying my full name really loudly in public, like, ‘Halle Berry, can you pass me the ketchup?’ It’s just so embarrassing! He knows it gets a reaction from people, but he can’t figure out why,” she laughs.
“Being a mum is the best job, but my kids don’t care about who I am outside this house. The only thing I want at the end of the day is for my children to say, ‘You weren’t perfect, you didn’t do everything right, but you were a good mum.’”
Halle credits her own mother, Judith Anne Hawkins, a psychiatric nurse who raised Halle and her sister alone after splitting with Halle’s dad Jesse when the actress was just four, with giving her the skills to make it in showbiz.
The Bond girl had a rough start before she found fame, sleeping in a homeless shelter in New York when the money from her latest modelling gig ran out.
