'He can still be bold enough to make an impact, but do it very skillfully'
It's something that has concerned courtiers for some time. Unlike his mother the Queen, who always keeps her opinions to herself, Prince Charles has a habit of speaking out on issues that are often contentious.
It's led to the royal household fearing that once he's king, he'll feel that he has free rein to say what he likes on topics the royal family has always been impartial about, like politics.
But they have been able to breathe a sigh of relief as it has been revealed that according to the game plan mapped out by his team for when he takes over as monarch, Charles will do his best to avoid controversy.
Fancy a cold one? Camilla pulled the perfect pint at a Canadian brewery.
The future king has been slammed in the past for some of his views, which have included speaking out against what he thinks is hideous architecture and supporting environmental causes long before they gained mainstream acceptance.
A palace insider says Charles, 73, won't abandon his pet projects like environmental issues, but he won't be as outspoken as he has been. Future interventions will focus on listening rather than speaking.
He will find new ways to highlight causes, bringing people together to find solutions rather than pushing his opinions, adds the source.
"He will be a convenor king rather than a campaigner king. He never gives up on issues and keeps going back to people to find out what progress has been made. But this is the distinction - not solving problems himself but listening to people's concerns and bringing others together to solve them."
