It milestone in any marriage, but for Prince Harry Meghan, Duchess of x, the first 100 days of ed life have been are of triumph and trauma.

The newest royal has slotted into public life like she was born to it, pretty much not putting a foot wrong as she attended family functions and carried out official duties. But unfortunately, Meghan’s first days in her new role have been marred by what’s been dubbed the ‘Markle Debacle’.

Her family – particularly her father Thomas and half-sister Samantha – have taken the shine off her new life by criticising the royals, and slamming Meghan for shunning them. Meghan (37) allegedly hasn’t spoken to them since just after her big day on May 19.

It’s sad they have tarnished an otherwise great start to royal life, says Joe Little, editor of Majesty magazine.

“Unfortunately, there’s been a lot of background noise with the Markle family,” he says. “It’s doing Meghan absolutely no favours; it’s just a shame her side of the family can’t see that.”

Harry’s side of the family, however, have welcomed her with open arms and she already seems to have developed a close bond with the Queen. Meghan accompanied the monarch on a visit to Cheshire in June, less than four weeks after the wedding. It was the newest duchess’ first solo engagement with Her Majesty.

“There seemed to be a tremendous rapport between them,” says Dickie Arbiter, the Queen’s former press secretary.
