Acclaimed architect Le Corbusier spoke right when he said Architecture is the learned game, correct and magnificent, of forms assembled in the light. Pune has seen a few architectural geniuses who have created a niche for themselves. One such name is Ar. Vishwakumar Badawe. The acclaimed architect who made a mark in the field was awarded the Excellence in the Field of Architecture award at the Family Interiors Awards for Architecture Design 2023, Season 4.

Ar. Badawe was born on 22nd May 1936. After finishing his bachelor's from the prestigious JJ School of Architecture in 1958, he did his Master of Tropical Architecture in 1960 from the renowned AASchool of Architecture in London. He did his internship in 1960 at Ar. Black Petersen's office in Copenhagen. After that, he did a sojourn through Europe and returned to Pune in 1962. He established his firm VV Architects in 1978.

If you ask him about his style, he will mention, It has grown over the years with function generating form and form expressed in its purity, strength and simple architectural grammar.’ His work spectrum includes private residences, memorials, green buildings, towns, planning, temples, cinemas, institutional buildings, industrial plants, auditoriums, public spaces, administrative buildings and community housing.

If you follow his work journey, the list is remarkable. He is part of the faculty of architecture design with numerous colleges. He is also a consultant to the university on architecture courses. He has been the advisor to the Govt of Maharashtra on architecture education. He has also been the office bearer and member of many organisations. He has been the Fellow, Chairman, President and VP of organisations. He has been the Chairman of the panel of examiners at the university architectural examination. He has been associated with the Area Development Board, Pune.
