Aurum is a beautifully designed home of the Kumats in Pune designed as per their lifestyle & ideas by Ar. Nilay and Nidhi Parekh from Studio VAASTAVYA.

The homes are getting fascinating. And designers are playing a role in that. These homes represent the homeowners. Ar. Nilay and Nidhi Parekh from Studio VAASTAVYA designed Aurum, a home in Pune that will leave you thinking if life imitates art or the opposite. The 4,900 sq. ft home has a terrace and an independent floor footprint.

The owners, Rashmi & Pavan Kumat, knew Parekh's distinct style and approached them to create their spacious haven. The options are endless, from avant-garde, retro & fusion to quirky. After discussions between the firm & the Kumats, they decided to create a home with simplicity, honesty & beauty as guiding design principles.

The home reflects the dwellers who are stylish, clutter-free, trendy, meticulous planners and on the move. Ar. Nilay mentions, "When we started this project, the clients were working from home. It is a large house with a pool that was replaced with a garden. The clients are busy and they travel often. So, maintenance would have been a problem. We did a deep study of their lifestyle, hobbies, how they spend leisure time, what they bring back as souvenirs from their travels, do they have pets, etc."

The interior is an eclectic mix of styles woven seamlessly together. Every element complements the previous one and complements the other. The common areas have vaulted ceilings in the long passage. It ably supports the light fixtures. The wall panelling adds the framed photos. The onion pink furniture merges with marble, mirrors, veneer panelling on the wall and glossy marble flooring well. The lobby & terrace have an elegant atmosphere and do not require artefacts to showcase it.
