First look at MC's electric ZS replacement

REVEALED New compact SUV is unveiled in China, with UK debut expected next year

REX THESE are the first official pictures of MG's new electric SUV, which will launch in the UK next year and serve as the successor to the popular MG ZS EV. It will rival electric compact family models such as the Skoda Elroq, Kia EV3 and Hyundai Kona Electric.

In China it's called the MG ES5, but Auto Express understands that the brand has still to decide what the car will be called when it comes to our shores in 2025. All we know so far is that it will not be badged ZS EV.

We also understand that the design will be slightly different to the car you see here. However, the family resemblance to MG's other electric models should still be obvious particularly with the MG4 hatchback on which the small SUV is based.

The ES5 doesn't look quite as aggressive, mind you, and features slimmer headlights, plus there's more black plastic cladding along the sides and a set of roof rails. But, as with the MG4, there's a large chrome octagon badge on the nose, and at the rear is a full-width light bar with Y-shaped tail-lights.
