2023 Ford Escape

The Escape is one of those SUVs that hasn’t ranked at the top of its class for a long time, but every time we drive one, we’re pleasantly surprised. Although it perpetually feels a little outdated, there’s some inherent goodness baked into the Escape.

For 2023, Ford has given the Escape a big bump in technology, but it seemed to have run out of budget before reaching the bottom of the to-do list.

The biggest story is told in 1s and 0s. Ford made a huge investment in electrical architecture to improve features like the Co-Pilot 360 suite of driver aids, which offers adaptive cruise control and lane keeping. The new features are presented on a pair of screens larger and more intuitive than anything else in the class. When combined with the optional head-up display, it helps the Escape feel far more tech-forward than offerings from Honda and Toyota.
