A RECENT survey undertaken by The Mercurius Group (TMG) on behalf of the Australian Motor Heritage Foundation (AMHF) reveals the total annual economic impact including both direct and indirect secondary expenditure is $25.2 billion.

CLASSIC CAR OWNERS SPEND BIG

The Economic Value Study gathered from over 6000 respondents across 800 car clubs nationally, claims there are an estimated 970,000 historic vehicles in Australia with owners spending approximately $10,240 per vehicle per year, equating to more than $9.9 billion annually.

The survey also shows the sector creates almost 79,000 jobs 42,000 direct and 37,000 indirect, with these jobs generating $6.2 billion in wages and salaries annually.

According to the AMHF: "In carrying out this study, we have shown the historic vehicle movement is a large and vibrant part of Australia's society and economy."
