From its perch on Middagkrans Mountain’s Olifants Pass, Franschhoek’s little farm, La Petite Ferme, delivers spectacular views over the beautiful valley. The farm grows wine grapes and olives for its own brands of wine and extra virgin olive oil, and the recently updated boutique hotel on the property is now competing with the very best of the best.
The five Manor House suites are available on an individual booking basis, but also for a group travelling together who want exclusive Manor House use. All suites share a shimmering swimming pool, and while Foufi is the largest, all provide the most comfortable and deluxe accommodation. The suites are named after people important to the owners and reflect the warm, family-oriented nature of the service offering.
THE SUITES
On a previous visit, Farmer’s Weekly occupied one of the five Vineyard suites, which have also been refurbished in a contemporary, airy style. Each Vineyard suite has a separate sitting room and a plunge pool. The makeover, which included exterior improvements while keeping the original feel, now delivers some of the best accommodation that Franschhoek has to offer. In a village known for its top-quality establishments, this is a significant achievement.
When you enter Foufi, the first thing you notice is the elegant and contemporary timber flooring. Straight ahead is a built-in unit that has a glass-fronted bar fridge and drawers with inclusive snacks and drinks for use during your stay. On top is a kettle and Nespresso machine, and plunger coffee and a stainless steel plunger are also provided.
