AMERICANS must be on high alert for a new and frightening breed of fraud, which uses artificial intelligence to make a con so realistic that victims would believe they're talking to their own mother, the FBI warns.

The nation's top law-enforcement agency says tech-savvy criminals are now harvesting personal information and using AI to construct websites and social media profiles that can be used to dupe someone into sending money or clicking on a malicious link!

JD Harriman, a partner in the L.A.-based Foundation Law Group, which focuses on AI and intellectual property, calls generative AI, which creates new content based on learned patterns, a "terrifying tool for scammers and fraudsters!"
