DEATH IN PARADISE SUNDAY, 9PM, BBC1 DRAMA

Officer Marlon Pryce has been through an astonishing transformation during his three years pounding the beat in BBC1’s hit Caribbean-set whodunnit Death in Paradise.

After being introduced to viewers as a wayward 18-yearold petty criminal in 2021, the cheeky chappie (played by Tahj Miles) has turned over a new leaf since Commissioner Selwyn Patterson (Don Warrington) recruited him for a training scheme and he has matured into a valued member of the Honoré police team.

As the 13th series continues this week, however, fan favourite Marlon faces an uncertain future when his little sister, Jocelyn (Miai Leonie Phillip), is offered a scholarship at a prestigious school in Jamaica – meaning he would have to quit the force to accompany her. But could Marlon ever leave behind the job, the friends and the (fictional) island of Saint Marie that he loves so much?

Here, Tahj, 22, chats to TV Times about Marlon’s

Marlon’s such a happy-go-lucky character. How does he feel about making such an important decision regarding his future?

This series, we’re seeing Marlon grow up a lot more, and making choices that don’t just involve himself. Usually, he takes the easy ride. He’s like, ‘It’s The Marlon Show, it’s only affecting me.’ But, this time, it impacts everyone around him – his family and the police team.

It’s difficult, especially when it could affect his career, which has almost become his life in the last few years. He just needs to take time, sit down and make his decision. He really gets tested!
