RECORD-BREAKING skateboarder , talented athlete, sought-after model, successful actress, dare devil stunt performer . . . The list of accomplish ments she could put on her CV is so long and so remarkable it almost sounds made up.
But everything is true – and making her achievements all the more inspiring is the fact she overcame almost impossible odds to make a success of her life.
Kanya Sesser (31) was born without legs and abandoned at birth but she was determined to stamp her mark on the world. And she’s done just that.
Her latest achievement is one she’s especially proud of: making it into the Guinness Book of World Records for the longest handstand on a skateboard (19,65 seconds in the LA3 category for people with limited function in at least two limbs), reminding her fans once again of her strength and resilience.
“I think it ’s one of the life-changing career moments for me,” she says of her record. “It’s so incredible to me to make history for others to see. I’ve made an impact for generations to come.”
"It was the best feeling ever. I've loved skateboarding ever since and I just adapted to it naturally." She uses her torso and arms to manoeuvre the board and has become a sought-after contestant in the competitive world of adaptive skating.
"I have connections with other skaters and athletes I skate with," she says. "We've built up a great community so we can keep the adaptive skate going throughout the generations." ANYA was aban doned outside a K Buddhist temple in Thailand when she was a few days old and her cries attracted the attention of a passerby at 5am one morning.
The tiny baby, who was covered in mosquito bites, was wrapped in a blanket so the woman who rescued her didn't realise she didn't have legs until she removed the blanket.
