'WE MAKE THE RULES!'

Jennifer Aniston is turning her back on prevailing views of ageing and urging women to get fit, stay strong and thrive
SHE'S known for her glossy good looks – it's part of what makes her Jennifer Aniston.
But she has also worked hard at maintaining them. Over the years we've seen her extol the benefits of exercise, healthy eating, mineral water and more.
Yet having turned 56 last month, Jen is under no illusions that youth isn't on her side. And rather than fighting the relent- less passage of time, she's embracing it – by calling “bullsh**” on the rules of ageing.
In a new interview with Allure magazine, the Friends star gets candid regarding her thoughts on getting older and says women don't need to feel boxed in by their age.
“I try not to think about getting older,” she says. “The world will always be there telling us what your age is and what women should do in society when you're this or that.“I think we're realising how people are so impressionable. It's like, ‘Okay, well, if they say this happens at this age, that's what happens at this age.’
“But then you go, ‘No! Who's making these rules?!’ Our muscles are going to go limp as we get older? No, let's keep them strong. We can make our own rules. It's all bullsh**.”
Keeping strong and fit is her No 1 goal. “Of course we're all going to grow older, but how can we thrive as we grow older? And that's about giving your body the attention it deserves.”
And for Jen that's Pvolve, a fitness programme started in 2017 by 34-year- old American businesswoman Rachel Katzman.A low-impact training method, it challenges the old-school notion of “no pain, no gain” by pairing simple movements the body does naturally – like bending, turning and reaching – with resistance equipment.
