The Zeyrek Çinili Hamam, a palatial network of ornately carved, domed, marble-tiled chambers, has stood in the Zeyrek neighborhood of Istanbul for almost 500 years. Designed by the Ottoman architect Sinan, it recently reopened with much fanfare after a meticulous 13-year restoration by the Marmara Group. It's one of New York-based artist Laila Gohar's most treasured places in the city.
