What is the first thing you think of when looking for a watch perfectly suited for travel? Undoubtedly your mind is already jumping to the widely known GMT complication, of which there is plenty to choose from. The extra GMT hand and the often bi-colour bezel are practically the go-to standard when it comes to travel-ready watches. Unbeknownst to most, however, the GMT complication was not the first way people kept track of more than one timezone. The GMT only came about during the 1950s but a couple of decades before that, the only way to keep track of both home and local time on the same timepiece fell to the heures universelles or rather the world time complication.
