O ne day, I received an email from the editor of an online spiritual magazine, requesting me to arrange for an article on the spiritual master, the late Sri Ramakant Maharaj (1941-2018), a direct disciple of Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj. Taking it as divineordained, I emailed Ramakantji's website, and was pleased to receive a prompt reply from Ann Shaw, based in London, introducing herself as the editor of Sri Ramakant Maharaj's works. I was overwhelmed when she informed me that she was astonished to receive my mail as she had just penned an article and was eagerly looking to get it published. Thereafter, we got acquainted with each other online on several occasions.
Born in 1953 in the United Kingdom to Roman Catholic parents, Ann Shaw's spiritual journey and explorations fascinated me. She told me, "As long as I can remember, I have been fascinated with the questions, 'Who am I?' and "Where have I come from?" "
Ann has read a wide variety of spiritual literature from the East and the West, studied psychology, theology, mysticism, and comparative religion in college, and in 1980, she completed her MA from Edinburgh University's School of Divinity.
Along with her husband, Charles, Ann travelled to India in 2005 and met several saints and teachers. During 2013-2014, the couple spent nearly six months in Nashik, in the presence of Sri Ramakant Maharaj.
Soon after Charles's passing in 2018, Ann returned to Nashik to be with her master.
Subsequently, she edited the books, Selfless Self (2015), Be with You, (2016), Ultimate Truth (2018), and Who Am I? (2022), based on the teachings of Maharaj.
The couple's fascinating interactions with their master have been detailed in Timeless Years with Sri Ramakant Maharaj 2012-2022. The book gives a profound insight into the guru-disciple relationship.
